Cold and Flu Season

Cold and flu season is here. The following guidelines can be used to help you determine when your student should stay home.

Your child should stay home if:

*Fever of 100.4 or higher without medication

*Has more than one episode of vomiting or diarrhea

*Your child is unable to participate in school due to:

       -Being tired

       -Lack of appetite

       -Frequently coughing or sneezing

-Severe sore throat - especially if the sore throat is accompanied by a headache, stomach ache, or rash.

*Rashes that are itchy and scaly should be evaluated by a doctor before coming to school

*Yellow or green discharge from eyes, ears or nose

*Pink eye (red, puffy, itchy)  needs to be cleared by a doctor before coming to school

24 hour rule:

*Keep your child home for 24 hours fever free without medication

*Keep your child home until 24 hours after the last episode of vomiting or diarrhea

*Keep your child home until 24 hours after the first dose of antibiotics
