Attendance Information
ATTENDANCE LINE: (916) 294-2410-press 1This line is for an all-day absence only. If you need an early release, please contact the main office (916)294-2410 x 410100. Please give us plenty of time to send an early release pass to your student * No calls and interruptions to a class for an early release. *TA's will be sent with a pass to your student which takes time. *PREFERRED METHOD: call first thing in the morning or send a note with your students. All absences will remain unexcused until cleared by a parent. Please note: Absences must be cleared by parents or guardian, regardless of the student’s age (even if your student is 18 years old). *If your student is leaving early, they MUST obtain an early dismissal pass from the front office before they leave campus. If your student does not have an early dismissal pass, this will be considered a cut.
ATTENDANCE ERRORS
Occasionally, students will be marked absent in error. The attendance office needs verification
from the teacher before the error can be fixed. The attendance office will obtain
verification from the teacher of the class period of error. If this is not
cleared by the teacher, absence will be marked as a truancy and
disciplinary consequences may be assigned.

Student in their:
Junior year - allowed TWO days excused for official college visits
Senior year - allowed THREE days excused for official college visits.
In order to have the absence excused, a request has to be sent to the assistant principal(S) 48 hours prior to the visit - in writing. The request can be sent via email. Any absence outside of the two or three day allowance will not be excused.
Understanding Truancy Issues - Did you receive a truancy letter?
*First truancy letter - student has been marked absent on 3 or more occasions. In high school with multiple classes, this can mean they have been marked in a single class or the full day. Schools are required by California law to notify the parents when 3 or more unexcused absences occur.
*Second truancy letter - student has been marked absent on 8 or more occasions.
*Third truancy letter - student has been marked absent 11 or more times. You will be required to attend a mandatory meeting that is scheduled for a future date.
